8. IRC etiquette: Some General Tips.

8. IRC Etiquette: Some General Tips

There are some basic guidelines to follow whether you're in an Anime channel or in another chat channel. I'll leave this to common sense.....

Anime channel etiquette in the eyes of #animewired:
These are my opinions and a reflection of what I'd like to see in #animewired ~Aaygo

*Say Hi before typing !list. IRC is mainly for CHATTING people! Don't be rude and try to molest an ftp or fserver without first introducing yourself. yeeshhhh how rude!

*Stay in the channel that you are leeching from. I know some fserver scripts will disconnect you if you leave the channel, but many have ftp servers up.

*Be sure to read the person's rules before you leech from them. (for example: 2 retries with 120 second timers) This means NO HAMMERING! You Will set your download program to 2 retires ONLY with 120 seconds inbetween each attempt.)

*Be generous and share what you have. How would you like it if you had set up a server to share anime with people and all you got were leechers who never shared anything at all....how greedy! *kicks them* If you share, someone will notice that and trust me, when you request something, people will more likely fill your requests faster than if you didn't share.

*Chat! Chat! Chat! What IS it with some of these channels that have a ton of servers but no chatting. This really pisses me off sometimes, it's IRC, the C is for CHAT! Now if you're shy and you have nothing to say that's one thing, but people can generally smell leechers (someone who downloads without sharing anime.)

*Don't camp on people's servers. I understand that if you find someone with a great connection and they have all this anime that you want..... the temptation is to Camp...just sit there and queue up a ton of files... Wellllll..... I appreciate people taking breaks every now and then to let other people access my server and I know that servers also appreciate the same. It's hard to have patience...trust me I know...there's a ton of stuff to download, but have some PATIENCE and pace yourself so you don't get temporarily banned from someone's server. It happens, I've done it in the past to try to moderate the greed. Or better yet, as the person you're downloading from how many files would be appropriate for that day.
